Capital Reunions was founded for a single reason, to offer the Washington DC area a premier reunion organization company. After working with a large reunion management company to coordinate our twenty year high school reunions, we realized there was a need to redefine the classic reunion. Wanting something with more flair, we set upon creating a reunion with style and personality.We discovered the need for a local company who delivered personal attention and service. We wanted to reflect the wishes and vision of the committee. Our plan is not to take you back to a high school dance, but to invite you to a fabulous party with the people you grew up with and share great memories.

Our Clients and guests will be pleased with our approach. Working together we select the perfect hotel, historic site, or trendy restaurant. Tables are set with fresh flowers, personally selected linens and decor. The perfect music plays and delicious food is served. Every detail is attended to. By truly involving the committee, each and every event has a personality all its own.

One of the most common questions we are asked is “how will you find all of our classmates?” The answer is simple, we at Capital Reunions use technology and good old fashion research to locate those from your class. With a class list and a little information, we work diligently finding all those ‘hard to find’ people.

The owners of Capital Reunions and Events are both native to Northern Virginia. Shelly Young Modes graduated from Oakton High School and Towson State University. Kathleen Tourtellotte graduated from Woodson High School and West Virginia University.

Shelly and Kathleen have been planning parties and events for years, including events at the Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C.., Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia, Weddings, Fundraising Events, Corporate Parties and Everyday Celebrations in Northern Virginia. Their imagination, creativity and passion for the perfect party give them a distinct advantage over the run of the mill reunion managers. Having been the committee chair for her own reunion, Shelly knows that personal service and dedication to each event is the key to a happy committee and a successful reunion. Their mission is to create a truly personalized event in partnership with each individual committee.
